Nkabom Collaborative at UG Donates Swimming and Tennis Equipment to UG Sports Directorate
The Nkabom Collaborative at the University of Ghana has donated sports equipment to the University’s Sports and Wellness Directorate. The items, which include swimming training belts, pool buoys, and lawn tennis nets, are intended to bridge existing gaps in equipment availability and enable students to train more effectively and consistently.
At a short presentation ceremony, the Collaborative Lead, Professor Richmond Aryeetey, underscored his outfit’s recognition that student success extends beyond the classroom to encompass holistic development.
“The youth is at the centre of the Nkabom vision, and it is critical that as we provide opportunities through education, entrepreneurship, and inclusive offerings, we complement these with access to functional sports infrastructure and equipment to enhance the overall student experience at the University of Ghana.”

He noted that the donation marked an important first-step in cementing a cordial working relationship between the Collaborative and the Directorate, and expressed optimism about “cultivating an enduring and mutually beneficial partnership that would ultimately inure to the greater good of all key stakeholders.”
Receiving the items, the Director of the Sports and Wellness Directorate, Dr. Austin Luguterah, highlighted the practical impact of the gesture. “Not only will this donation significantly ease the operational constraints we encounter, it will also help avert delays associated with procurement processes.”
“With the availability of these items,” Dr. Luguterah continued, “our coaches and students can seamlessly continue their training schedules and regimens without hitches associated with waiting.”
The donation exercise further etches the footprint of the Nkabom Collaborative within the University community, not only as a sustainable and responsible initiative, but also as a key enabler of youth, women, and persons with disabilities’ empowerment.
