Access and Success

Overview

The Access and Success Pillar is designed to open up access in higher education training in nutrition and agrifood systems to vulnerable and underrepresented groups such as women, internally displaced persons and persons living with disability. It provides support (scholarships, research grants, bursaries) to individuals who otherwise may not have access to doctoral training and careers in sustainable agrifood systems, nutrition and related disciplines. The idea is to facilitate their successful transition to careers in nutrition and agrifood systems in academia and industry.

Objectives

  • Train twenty-five (25) PhD students in nutrition and agrifood systems over the next ten years

  • Provide financial and logistic support for practical/experiential learning for students

Key Activities

  • Recruitment and enrolment of high potential but under-resourced individuals into sustainable agrifood systems research training programmes

  • Counselling support activities and interventions

  • Industry placement for students for internships and experiential learning
